(45,984 posts)A Republican woman must be someone who is particularly clueless.
For example, I would answer Ms. Elmers by running down the GOP legislative agenda, without using the term war on women, and then asking the rhetorical question, "how does this benefit women?" Since she is a traditional Victorian woman (apparently, at least, and I'm sorry that there's no nicer to say it), she might have an answer to that that has been provided by the misogynists at the RNC, some shadowy think tank funded by the Koch brothers (David Koch is a libertarian who puts up an awful lot of money to put modern women in "their place" or Bryan Fischer or some other televangelist from the Jerry Falwell school of Bible-thumping half-wits.
On the other hand, the misogynists at the RNC or the Koch-funded think tank or the Jerry Falwell school of Bible-thumping half-wits may have neglected to give Ms. Elmers the memo. In that case, she will stand there, looking clueless until a flash of enlightenment covers her face to indicate that she gets it and I smile because I got through to her. But almost as fast as that bright glow of enlightenment came over Ms. Elmers' face, a dark, foreboding look takes its place. "Oh, dear," she says. "The Koch brothers are going to strike me with a bolt of thunder from a ten thousand foot peak near Topeka, Kansas for having such thoughts."
Nonsense, you say? Well, anyone who believes the underlying premises to the Republicans' war on women probably believes that there's a ten thousand foot peak in Kansas from where the Koch brothers hurl thunderbolts at any libertarian woman who even for a moment discovers she has a mind of her own.

(13,218 posts)Republican women are particularly stupid not because of their gender per se but because 1) Republicans are stupider than average and 2) they are misogynistic. Republican females take two hits.

(2,062 posts)All Republican women are Stepford Wives. How else can a woman vote against women issues, vote against women health, vote against equal pay for women, vote against allowing women the rights they deserve as not just women, but Americans. It was said best by Madeleine Albright.....There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." I agree

And there are some conservative minded women who long for the old ways and think the feminists are ruining everything for them.

A true cow of Bashan.
These arrogant people cut funding for Head Start, WIC, SNAP and the rest. I would email Amos 4: 1 to her if I lived in her district:
Listen to this message, you cows of Bashan who are on the hill of Samaria, women who oppress the poor and crush the needy, who say to their husbands," Bring us something to drink."
She's denigrating all women while living on their hard earned taxes.

(1,040 posts)... please explain what you're talkin' about to us women folk in little words that we can understand. My poor, punkin head is just filled with all sorts of nonsense like recipes and draperies and what shoes to wear with this outfit. Makes me wonder if this is GOP bedroom talk women used to get their Republican husbands to perform adequately.

(12,409 posts)I admit I do not have any idea what her intentions were and have not heard her address the statements directly.
I sense that she was indirectly calling her male counterparts displays of public intent as pure bullshit without sincerely standing up to them. She called out their charts and graphs as smoke and mirrors in a manner not to offend.
She may have been attempting to say "lets get real" in a kowtowing sort of way.

(45,411 posts)then I remembered that this woman doesn't give a shit about the real issues faced by real people.
I'm all for having fewer public displays of bullshit in congress, but I doubt any of these people are interested in addressing the real issues or they would have done it already. Ellmers has had plenty of opportunities but she made different choices. She has made speeches saying how much life sucks in the Dem controlled states that have implemented the PPACA, while completely ignoring the fact that those states are seeing more of their people get insurance and care while her own constituents are missing out.

(15,859 posts)if Republican women cared about being thought of as anything other than brainless, controllable possessions... they'd be Democrats.
SummerSnow
(12,608 posts)She serves as the current chairwoman of the Republican Womens Policy Committee.
When Rep. Renee Ellmers talks about what needs to happen to secure the future of the GOP, she tells a story she heard from a staffer who, while packing up the district campaign office after the 2012 elections, stopped to chat with a passer-by.The woman said, Im really glad your boss won, Ellmers recalled. But Im really glad I got to keep my womans rights. And that really struck me, the North Carolina Republican continued, because it told me that there are women in this country, even in my own hometown, who do not think the Republican Party cares about women, that they would lose their womens rights if they had a Republican president. And I thought, Thats really dangerous.
Ellmers is one of only 19 women in the House Republican Conference, but as the chairwoman of the burgeoning Republican Womens Policy Committee she is making it her mission to mobilize her colleagues to prove the party is not just filled with graying, older white men, as she said in a recent interview.
I think the culture that has existed within our own party has been led by men, by and large, Ellmers acknowledged. Women have not necessarily been putting themselves out there for recognition. Now we have a group of women empowering each other, whereas in the past women were more independent agents.

(14,087 posts)Democrats, all across the country, should be showing this as a campaign ad...and comment CLEARLY about how the tea party is putting PUPPETS in the house of representatives of the United States who don't understand a fucking pie chart, or "trillions" of dollars! And, furthermore, that they have a face of a woman who CLEARLY doesn't qualify for government office of any kind who was put in that office, by corporate dollars, to be the Koch brothers' puppet.
THIS is the face of the GOP: Too stupid to be MAKING LAWS in our government.
