Related: About this forumThom Hartmann: We will Strip you Naked Now
Attorney Rebecca Nitkin joins Thom Hartmann. The Supreme Court thinks you need to be strip-searched. In a five to four ruling on Monday - the high court said jails have a right to give any new detainees an invasive strip search no matter how minor the criminal offense was. That means even people who committed minor crimes like forgetting to pay a parking ticket or jay walking during an Occupy rally will be stripped naked and viewed and poked by cops The Supreme Court took judicial activism to new levels with the Citizens United decision - and they've done it again. How is the Court being allowed to exercise political and legislative power - and why are Conservatives supporting it? This is just the latest ruling by a Supreme Court that has far too much power in our Democracy.

OP
What 'judicial activism' was involved here? The court didn't overturn any laws...

the court affirmed a decision by a lower court that ruled what the jail was (already) doing didn't violate the constitution.
In short the court basically said 'you can continue what you were doing'.
Also the court's decision was basically exactly what the Obama administration's Justice Department argued it should be:
The summary from the Justice Department's argument that they submitted to the court:
The Fourth Amendment permits prison and jail officials to conduct visual body-cavity inspections
of all detainees who will join the general inmate population
