Sarah Palin's internet television channel is up and running, and as expected, nothing she is broadcasting makes any sense. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins gives Sarah some advice for her channel.

(111,245 posts)but all I can wonder is what it's going to take for her husband and children to get her some help.
I suppose if she spends everything she makes and then gets them so far into debt that they lose everything they'll finally figure out that she's nuts and needs medication.

(45,984 posts)I don't know about the kind of help you're suggesting, but it's clear to me that she could use the kind of help Mr. Cousins is suggesting. However, she probably won't. If past prologue, then we know she won't. She was resistant to that kind of help from the McCain campaign in the wake of her disastrous interview with Charlie Gibson, where she acted like a teenage girl caught unprepared for class.
If one thinks about it long enough, one might be able to translate the remarks she makes about liberals, the fast food industry and minimum wage workers into English. However, that would only highlight her willful ignorance. All liberals are vegans? Excuse me, but she won't catch me on a tofu diet. It doesn't do her any good to superimpose the time I was a McDonald's employee in the early seventies on today's America. The typical fast worker today is in his or her middle-to-late twenties, married and has children. The typical fast food worker in the early seventies was just like I was then, late teens/early twenties, working part time and going to college, living with parents or largely supported by them. That's quite a different profile, and the defenders of the status quo, including Mrs. Palin, do themselves no credit by failing to ask why the profile of a fast food worker has changed. They won't ask the question because they are afraid the answer has something to do with the failure of Reaganonics, and rightly so. After thirty-plus years of Reaganomics, manufacturing jobs have disappeared and been replaced by minimum was "opportunities" in fast food. It doesn't help that the minimum was doesn't buy as much as it did when I worked at McDonald's while my parents paid for the roof over my head. By the time I was in my late twenties, I was married with a small child. A minimum wage job the would have been far from adequate. At that time, I had embarked on a career in computer programming.
Mrs. Palin is right about one thing, a fast food job is not a career. It's the dead end that the American economy has become.

(45,251 posts)At long last, just STFU. Your 15 minutes of fame should have been up about t3 months after the 2008 election. In fact, they should never have begun, but for incredibly bad judgement on the part of McCain and his campaign team.
A secessionist's spouse who never denounced secessionism, running for VP. Give me a damned break.

There wouldn't be a Sarah Palin if she wasn't filling the needs/voids of a significant percentage of the US populace
