I am so, so thankful this video was made. It's probably the most intimate, real description of depression I've ever heard.

1. If there is one thing I have learned

from a lifetime of living with this condition, it is that there is no single right answer - no single right response.

This is one response and I applaud this young man for his passion and his honesty.

I will say this, though. The flip-side of "happy" is "sad". Nobody wants to be sad all the time - but for some reason, many people think that we should be happy all the time.
I decided long ago that I can settle for content. It's not happy, but it's not sad. It's a pretty good place to be, most of the time - and a hell of a lot easier to reach for than "happy". That's one of my right answers and it works for me, most of the time.

It started as an article in Vanity Fair magazine by Wm Styron (Sophie's Choice) who suffered from Depression. The response to the article as astounding. Styron lengthened the article and publish it as a short book. For those who suffer from Depression the book puts into words what they feel and give them a small glimmer of hope.
