How many genocidal groups withdrew from the battlefield, after killing only a small fraction of the target group?

If anyone in that area is genocidal, it's Hamas.
They may not have the tools to carry out a genocide, but they have the fervent desire to do so.

But as always, "Palestinians can do no wrong and Israelis can do nothing right..."

I read somewhere there are about a million and a half Palestinians.

About 1500 were killed, mostly due to Hamas hiding behind them and launching those damn rockets from playgrounds, schools, even hospitals.

From day 1, the countries surrounding Israel had as their goal the eradication of ALL Jews.
Many Arab leaders were openly pro-Nazi Germany.
Today, most Arabs have given up that goal of killing all the Jews.
Except Hamas.

The Arabs were not Pro-Nazi's. They didn't even have anything to do with the Holocaust. Palestinians took in around 700,000 Jews during World War II before the Zionists began slaughtering their people, burning their villages, and stealing their land.

Around 2,000 Palestinians have been killed in about a month. 80% are civilians, 30% are children. Does that seem small to you? Keep in mind the Israelis have been doing this shit to the Palestinians for decades.

I talked personally to many of the families driven out of Palestinian territory at the time of partition. Israel forced them out and didn't allow them to take personal belongings. They had to even smuggle out family photo albums. Israel from it's very inception has attacked Palestinians. Thank you for this post.

However ...

How can anyone doubt that the goal of the Jewish state is to have removed all of the indigenous Palestinians from the land area they define as Israel?

My suspicion is that the Israeli goal would be accomplished either through slow starvation and economic ruin, more out-and-out war, or some new version of a forced migration.

In the past ten years or so I have gone from a supporter of Israel to being a person who now believes that the UN 1947 decision was a tremendous mistake and that the Jews should be somewhere else if they want their own religious country.

It is increasingly obvious to me that the powers-that-be in Israel do indeed want an 'ethnic cleansing' ... and they do have to tools to carry that out.

Ironically, Hamas is the best rationalization for the Israeli right-wingers -- nevertheless, I also am getting to the point where I just don't blame some Palestinians for supporting Hamas since they actually try and resist the Israeli oppression.

The video posted in the other response is quite good ... much better than the one in the OP.

I don't have stats handy, but I do know that most Israelis are not religious. The state of Israel was founded out of fear of persecution, on the theory that only a state run by Jews could be safe for Jews. As paranoid as this may sound today, it reflected reality in the Nineteenth Century, when Zionism got started; in the first half of the Twentieth Century; and especially in the years after the Holocaust, when antisemitism was on the decline but the potential for horrors in the name of antisemitism was obvious.

Those small numbers of Jews you see in the history of Palestine? At least some (most?) were Orthodox or ultra-Orthodox Jews who had a long history on the land and who had absolutely no use for the state. Many of them, to this day, do not recognize the State of Israel. They are anti-Zionist. They want to live there but without a Jewish state.

That's not to say that all Orthodox Jews in Israel are against the State of Israel. Far from it. Some are extremely nationalistic.

Elsewhere in the world live Jews who will not live in Israel because they believe it is a sin to do so before God calls for the ingathering of the exiles. And that has not happened yet. But most religious Jews who are in Israel will not leave, because Israel is the seat of their heritage.

Most secular Jews will not leave because the "somewhere else" that they could call their homeland does not exist. Conditioned by 2000 years of persecution followed by 60 some years of propaganda playing on that persecution (I start counting propaganda somewhat arbitrarily at the founding of the state in 1948), they live on fear. This fear, though grounded in reality to some extent, is in my opinion the root of the problem. It is fear (exacerbated, I am guessing, by state control of the media) that makes Israelis believe their leaders about the need for stuff like what they just did in Gaza. I'm guessing that those who don't take the trouble to look beyond Israeli news sources don't know the great suffering caused by that action.

The Israeli Declaration of Independence identifies Israel as "A Jewish Nation state", the "Democratic" wasn't added until 1985. However, a Jewish state and a genuine democracy are a contradiction in terms. It also makes people uncomfortable to refer to Israel as a "Jewish State" because it suggests a theocracy. Despite this, people like Prime Minister Netanyahu still want Palestinians to recognize Israel as a “Jewish State.” People who are pro-Israel often use the "Islamic State" argument to justify calling Israel a "Jewish State", however no countries in that region in 1948 called themselves an "Islamic State" nor asked to be recognized as such. Although Muslims made up the majority of the population they saw no need to declare a state religion until after European occupation and the establishment of the 'Jewish State' of Israel.

The Palestinians accepted around 700,000 Jews from Europe during WWII. Israel steals their land, kills their people, burns their villages and then cries like a baby if they hate them for killing their parents. No one has to like them and frankly they don't give the world much reason to anymore.

I get sick of hearing people like you screech anti-Semitism every time Israel is criticized. You're the same as those idiots who said that any American who protested the Iraq war "hated America."
I love the old, "Hamas fires from civilian areas" charge. You may not be aware but pretty much ALL of Gaza is a civilian area! There are over 1.5 million people crammed into an area that is 20 miles long and 5 miles wide. And the charge that Hamas is deliberately firing from hospitals, schools and such is bullshit! It would make no sense to fire from a hospital that your people need just so Israel will blow it up. And for what purpose pray tell? Oh that's right, to make Israel "look bad." Oh please, get a brain. And what about the UN centers where refugees were taking shelter? The UN told the IDF 17 times where their locations were but Israel bombed all three anyway! But I suppose that is Hamas's fault too. >eye roll<
The people of Gaza have been under a cruel blockade by Israel which allows only the barest essentials in for the past 7 yrs all because the people of Gaza had the audacity to choose the "wrong" party in their election. Yes Hamas is militant but this is what happens when people see no changes in their misery. They will vote for anyone who promises to make their lives better. Maybe if Israel did not treat the Palestinians so brutally there would be no violence. Ever consider that? No of course you didn't because in your little world Palestinians are pure evil while Israelis fart rainbows.
And I shouldn't even have to bring up the lopsided death toll. How many Israeli civilians have been killed via Hamas rockets? Three. How many wounded? Also three. How many Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombs and missiles? About 2,000 with 8,000 wounded and hundreds of thousands of refugees living in shelters. Yeah so please keep pontificating on how Israel needs to "defend itself."

This has always been my opinion and concern. The world's apparent lack of concern by the PTB for Palestinian lives, especially those in Gaza, will continue to manifest in more radicalization of the Palestinians and fuel continued anger in the Arab world regardless of what the hypocritical Arab leaders say.
