Frankly the only thing that was surprising to me about the over the top military style response in Ferguson is that it didn't happen sooner. The Bush administration took advantage of the aftermath of 9/11 to militarize policing in the United States as well as turning the focus of our clandestine services, including the CIA and the NSA, onto the domestic population. Grants have been handed out from Homeland Security to municipalities to purchase military surplus equipment and other security hardware.

What's the end game? Where does the money flow? Was this done in anticipation of a breakdown in social order due to globalization and the erosion of our manufacturing base and income inequality, or displacement due to global warming?

A lot of effort has been put into turning America into a militarized zone. What's it all about?
