(paraphrasing) One dismisses errors and mistakes and move on.

Chomsky's critique of Marx was seriously flawed at best in this discussion..

As a rule, I do respect his intellect and perspective on a great many issues, but there have been more than one occasion where I've disagreed with his logic and conclusions on a given subject, and viewed his analysis as seriously flawed.

But I put those in the "disagree" category as I certainly will on this one.

Actually I found this particular instance to be embarrassing. He actually said things here, that I would hope he would recognize as categorically untrue, if given a bit more thought on the matter. .

Chomsky is a public intellectual and a fine professor of linguistics as well as a keen social observer; however, he is not and cannot be considered an expert on either the historical development of Socialism or Marx. It is clear that this discussion, which judging by his appearance and dress is over 20 years old, has very little of import to say about Marx or Marxism, as he states clearly in his response, he doesn't consider himself an expert in this field; however, he then takes his typical disestablishmentarian view and grafts it onto the followers of Marx. Chomsky is against blindly following any authority, even himself, and takes issue with every "school of thought," it is a particularly anti-authoritarian position, that is characteristic of all Chomsky's thought. Chomsky has internalized his experiences of totalitarian regimes that shaped the 20th century as "Marxist," regimes, his critique of the followers of that "Marxism," may be generally correct, but he has fallen behind the times, although given the dated nature of this bit of video, it may be reflective of the late 1970's or 80's... In any event there are much more important economists and social theorists to be reckoned with on the political and cultural scene when discussing Marxism than Chomsky. Again, I don't understand the attack against Chomsky based on this dated snippet of video, what is the point?
