Florida police officer has place been on paid administrative leave after cell phone video showed him using a Taser to stun a 62-year-old African-American woman in the back as she was walking away.

Viola Young, 62, approaches Officer Mahan to ask about one of the men who was being detained. Mahan advises her to stay back, and tries to grab her arm. After she turns and walks away, the officer pulls out his Taser and fires it into her back.

Young falls face down onto the pavement.

She was taken into custody on charges of resisting an officer without violence. Young was released on Wednesday.

Come on cop apologists!! Defend the boys in blue and tell us how it's totally cool to taze this woman and arrest people for walking in the street on a street without sidewalks!

It's crazy how this type of abuse and harassment seems to happen in black neighborhoods so often, but there are people who pretend that it is not racilly motivated.

Everybody needs to film every encounter woth th police, if they see a cop arresting or detaining somebody, they need to find a location a reasonable distance away and film the whole thing.

The whole thing was bull from beginning to end, he had no right to grab her or detain her in any way, she was asking a question from a distance, him rushing over to grab her was a criminal act. Pf course she grabbed her arm from the aggressive man and walked away. For him to taze her in the bavk like that shows his need for power and anger at being denied the right to assault her at will. He should have been arrested immediately. The fact that cops are rarely arrested for assaulting black people, is the reason why black people hate cops. Dealing with cops is like dealing with overseers on a plantation. They literally beat you for back talk, and shoot you for disobediance. And then everybody blames the black person for not being properly subserviant. More videos will be coming and there will be more protests until the cops work on the problems of violence running rampajt through the police community.

Some really think we need to pipe down, be respectful, and take all types of shit, no questions asked. Whenever we do something, normal or not, it gets magnified and distorted ensuring we are always in the wrong.

When you have been on the top of the food chain for so long, it must he scary to know your place is at risk and that you may have to share. As you know, anything done to a black person can be minimized and explained away, or blamed on them. It makes tyem feel good to believe that we are the real problem and that somehow we bring this on ourselves by being... So aggresively black.

Now, as crazy as it sounds, I suppose they arrested her because if they didn't arrest her, there would be no excuse for the tasing and too much extra paperwork.

At least they didn't shoot her. This way she can enjoy the money she gets when she sues their asses off.

And I love the term "Paid administrative leave".
Assault a helpless person and get a PAID VACATION?
I can imagine a police officer thinking, "I sure would like to take some time off to go fishing. I know, I'll beat up a helpless old lady. Then I'll get Paid Administrative Leave."
