A Detroit judge ruled that there is no basic human right to water. Judge Steven Rhodes refused to extend a moratorium on water shutoffs another six months in the city of Detroit. (2,049 posts)That kind of rhetoric seems to have been tailor made to serve the fracking companies and those who want to put the Keystone XL Pipeline in to poison critical aquifers in the great American Midwest. Detroit is setting a valuable precedent for them in their plans to totally rape the environment and the American people, of course!

(904 posts)...it's private corporations in general trying to take over what will become a strategic resource - clean, potable water.
You know about Nestle, right? The Swiss concern known for it's chocolate confections and other things you find on your supermarket shelves? Well, they are also one of the world's biggest players in buying up and privatizing civic water supplies. One of the executives, in fact, went on record saying that water is a commodity, not a right.
What would I do? Get on the web, find out who/what Nestle owns, and BOYCOTT THEM!!!!! Give them NONE of your money! Green is the only color they see - they go blind without it.
That would be just a start.
