Legendary Songwriter with Alzheimer’s Releases His Final Epic Ballad! (4 sheshe2) Lyrics added

For sheshe2. Lyrics at bottom of the post.

Legendary singer and songwriter Glen Campbell has been battling Alzheimer’s disease for years, and is now in the final stages of the disease. Campbell has been moved to 24-hour care, as his doctors have determined that he is in the sixth stage of Alzheimer’s (‘severe cognitive decline”).

It has been nearly two years since Campbell has performed in public — however, as a farewell to his music career, Campbell’s record label has released his final studio recording.

His final ballad is called “I’m Not Gonna Miss You.” The melody is somber and contemplative, but the lyrics show Campbell’s ability to find irony in his disease. The result is a beautiful combination of sadness and joy, which ends much too quickly.

Watch the video below to see the touching music video.

I'm still here, but yet I'm gone
I don't play guitar or sing my songs
They never defined who I am
The man that loves you 'til the end
You're the last person I will love
You're the last face I will recall
And best of all, I'm not gonna to miss you.
Not gonna miss you.
I'm never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You're never gonna see it in my eyes
It's not gonna hurt me when you cry
I'm never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains
I'm not gonna miss you
I'm not gonna miss you

like thinking the end is near.

It has been almost a year since I finished treatment for cancer. So far I am clear but certainly not out of the woods.

The last year has been undoubtedly the best year of my life.

Glen Campbell deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, not only for his songs but for his session work. He played on numerous legendary songs.

21. Yes. From Rolling Stone:

Perhaps because the project came about organically, when Ghost on the Canvas producer Julian Raymond came to Kaplan (that record's executive producer) with a trove of recordings that would eventually become the new album. In between takes during the Ghost sessions, Campbell would start singing old staples like "Gentle on My Mind" and "True Grit," in a fine voice that reflected on the singer's astounding half-century pop, rock and country career as he rides off into the sunset.

Mr. Campbell also replaced Brian Wilson in the Beach Boys from December 1964 until April 1965, after Wilson left the tour for health reasons.

wife is a DON of an Alzheimers Hospital and she sees these people fade away every day, and we still both wept a little while this was playing. "I'm not gonna miss you"...because he's not gonna know... It is hard to grasp.

They were diagnosed around the same time, and died within a few weeks of each other.
Strange disease. I can't help but think it was connected to where they were living.

I will never forget the joy of watching the Glenn Campbell Show many many years ago. It was the only show I watched on television at the time... he has a natural talent, as did so many of the performers on that show.

Dr. Mary Newport is a medical doctor who has done a great deal of research on Alzheimer's in order to help her own husband who has early-onset Alzheimer's ... and has developed a surprisingly successful protocol ... it is not perfect, but it is effective.

There are numerous videos about her work on youtube... two of which are here

So very poignant. Glen Campbell did that so beautifully. The words touched me deeply. A moving tribute to the ones whose lives are fading away.

Thank you for thinking of my dad, Steve.

No, he's not going to miss me.

Thank you~
