Russell Brand (Breathlessly) Tells David Letterman Why He Wants A Revolution

When asked by Letterman to explain what 'the revolution' is about, Brand compared the state of his hometown of Grays (in Essex) to that of New Jersey - and went on to give a breathless rant about wealth inequality and why politicians are failing to talk about the issue.

don't understand how someone like this can represent people suffering the inequality of the 99% vs 1%.

about! He talks about how we are thrown crumbs of freedom such as gay marriage, while our rights are eroding elsewhere. He is big on the inequality issue and the fact that both of our parties are owned/controlled by the corporations. He believes voting gets us nowhere when we are voting for only corporate candidates, but if we all joined together we could restore true Democracy. All true, just not likely to happen because too many believe our politics are real.

I guess I have to ignore his delivery and (really) look into his story-history. I agree with those points you mentioned. Thanks, sorry book by it's cover syndrome. Which IS wrong of me.

here. Speaking truth to power is the only way out of this morass 'we the people' are currently living in.

benches and feeding crumbs to the pigeons. Republicans are the old men in their back yards shooting pigeons.

We deserve more than crumbs but certainly don't want to be shot at!

The guy's funny, brilliant and willing to talk to the media about the greatest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the very wealthy in human history....

The question we all should be asking is, why aren't more of the so called Representatives in the Democratic party hammering this issue? Because if they really represented our interests and cared about our plundered Democracy they would muster up at least half of the passion that you just heard from Russel Brand and we'd hear a unified resounding, deafening chorus from what is supposed to be the party of the people. And we keep hearing it until the oligarchy built over the last thirty years is replaced with a representative Democracy

Until that happens I'll embrace Brand and anyone else willing to do speak truth to power...

Brand could just collect his big paychecks and keep his mouth shut. Instead he's out there mixing it up and speaking the truth!

Former Sex Pistol John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, tells Polly Toynbee that comedian Russell Brand's call for people not to vote is ignorant, flippant and liable to 'make you all homeless'. Lydon also explains why he'd never vote Conservative, labels Ukip 'morons' and calls anarchy a 'mind game for the middle classes'

I was surprised to read, just before our interview, tabloid reports that he'd been in an altercation with Russell Brand on a film set. Reportedly, Brand had repeatedly told a young assistant that he wouldn't film another frame until she'd shown him her breasts; and Connolly had stepped in to tick him off for harassment. Why did he…?

"That [widely reported] story," says Connolly evenly, "is a total invention. A complete fabrication. It's total bollocks. It never happened. Russell was very well-behaved, and I found him very interesting." Did he find him funny? "Oh aye. I really enjoyed his company. I liked his vocabulary, and his stance. He poses and… stances around all the time, and I like that."

Where's the truth? I suppose we'll never know.

Everything else is praise for his pseudo-visionary act. The truth is probably none of the above.
