It's October 2014, and it's hard to believe this was a decade ago already. But it's still the best thing ever. And still 100% true.

Not sure those were his exact words. But that is what he was saying. Crossfire was dead within a very short number of weeks.

Thank you, Jon. What a great public service you did that night.

himself with his bow tie.
I loved how Jon nailed Tucker each time he tried to attack him.

The Ends always justify their means. Been this way since Reagan... Iran Contra Trials...

It never got better either..
I have kept a record of this crap Jon is talking about ten years ago:

6. Is John Kerry the best the Democrats can do?

asks the bow-tie guy.

Jon Stewart: Well, I've always thought in a Democracy, and I don't know, I've only lived in this country. . .

The audience didn't seem to catch that, and it's really brilliant and subversive.

added on edit: It is so clear he totally despises Carlson, and doesn't think a whole lot more of Begala. He also makes them totally crazy because he won't play their game. "I won't be your monkey" and they can't stand it, especially Carlson.

You can't have a TV show that is like a college debate team debate. I would love it if you could. I'd love to face off against republican pundits in that kind of a debate.

The problem is that virtually no one would watch it. If that kind of a thing were popular, the best college debate teams would have national network contracts like the good college football and basketball teams have. Obviously, they don't.

The reason political debates are conducted with bite sized soundbites is because that is as much as the public will tolerate. Anything more than five to eight minutes on a subject and the public changes the channel. The only way you get more than that is with publicly funded non-profit television. That's why folks on PBS can have different kinds of political shows than folks who have to have tons of eyes watching to be able to sell ad space.

Even Stewarts show doesnt generally have segments more than 5-8 minutes and his humor is exquisite. Even then he doesnt feel he can get folks to watch a segment longer than that and people are laughing hysterically. That should tell him what the demand is for in depth and thorough serious debate on political subjects.

Edited to add: Sorry, thought I was commenting on a more recent OP on this and didnt mean to kick an old OP.
