Ring of Fire: Obamacare Ends Big Pharma’s Bribe Machine

For decades, doctors have been receiving all sorts of perks from pharmaceutical companies – paid speaking gigs, gold junkets, food, vacations, the list goes on and on. In return, drug companies are rewarded with more prescriptions for drugs that Americans, most of the time, simply don’t need. But those days could be coming to an end thanks to an overlooked provision of the Affordable Care Act.

Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins and attorney Howard Nations discuss this story.

Farron,

Please stop using the words "you know" so damn much. You use those words in just about every other sentence. If you are going to host a news talk show you have got to get rid of this bad habit.

is, of course, a "right" that is not implemented in America because of the greed factor.
The movie, "Sicko", while a little over dramatic (IMO to make a point) shows us how simply this works. The Dr.'s earn a very good living and the people are not punished for getting sick.
Again, IMO, a real Dr.'s goal is to help and cure people. Money is not the motivating factor. Of course, Dr."s should be well compensated for all of the years of study, etc..
Obviously they should earn more than a CEO, hedge-fund manager, professional athlete, etc..
Money has perverted everything that we know to be fair.
Hopefully "they" will not be able to corrupt Bernie's message when he has the national stage.
Every attempt will be made to keep him out of the debates. How warped is that?

that many, many of us don't eat their food, don't go to their conferences, and don't attend their "lectures". Many of us realize that we can not be thought to be giving high priced products to our patients because of gratuities from pharmaceutical companies. I do, however, treat the sales reps warmly, because I'm a nice guy, and I sign for samples. The samples go to my patients, and I do appreciate that "generosity". I practice in a seventy-member group, and less than half even see drug reps.

He was nice to the detail men, and they provided him with samples of medicines which he, in turn, provided to his patients who were not in good financial shape.

Lots of doctors do that, too.
