Yes, the Republican "war on women" is real.

(54,341 posts)Are all frustrated, angry, frightened men who twist and contort to bend facts to meet their pre-conceived
notions of how the world should be according to Ailes and Luntz. I'm talking about George Will, David Brooks
and Charles Krauthammer. All three of them speak with good grammar but diatribes oozing with verbal
gymnastics, trying to convince the world why up is really down, and night is really day. Will, the persistent
old school "conservative," Brooks, trying to come across as the "reasonable conservative," and Krauthammer,
the angry, scowling crusader, looking hoping no one will call him out when he blasts his verbal shotgun at
anything that moves, hoping to hit some "liberals" (he always misses).
The force of logic and real clear analytical thinking both of which the opposition has no use for and may even deny the existence of. So of course it's going to baffle and confuse them, being nearly unaware of the existence of such things leaves you totally unprepared to cope with them.

(54,341 posts)While not full time, his commentary is quite incisive, I find. Indeed, he has been a guest on Rachel's show
quite a few times, I understand. He used to be in politics full time.
I don't get American TV here, so I rely on clips sent to me.

(108 posts)How could Mitt Romney not have a position about the Lilly Ledbetter act? Why did it take six seconds to get a "we'll get back to you on that," response?
How would it be damaging to him if he said he supported the bill?
Does Romney stand for anything besides what his corporate masters tell him to believe?
That's not leadership. Sadly, Republicans will go to the polls en masse to vote for him.

(1,259 posts)it just makes me a little nervous when they take clips like that and present them as a seamless quote... here is a more complete (and still very damning quote)--

(1,259 posts)and thus it was somewhat misleading. I just hate to have someone argue he was taken out of context, or whatever.

(535 posts)Bold assertions of when she, (or her research staff) screwed up, and usually they only screw up once a month or so, and screw up by NOT giving all the details, or by not giving some silly point that Republicans will insist is part of the full story.
I love a news reporter who admits when they are wrong, invites Republicans to come on and defend their position, and actually admits she is not a perfect reporter of facts.

(1,721 posts)when she makes a mistake -- even though she holds advanced degrees and is, in fact, a Rhodes scholar -- enables her to give some of the best political analysis in the US? Maybe it's only fascinating to me that someone so credentialed is 1) not simply resting on her laurels, but doing hard-hitting, journalistic work 2) on one of the biggest national cable networks 3) is so incredibly humble, and personable, and admits mistakes.
This is not what America has come to expect from their reporters after so many years of Faux news.
