I wonder how many Putinistas on DU are working for the "Internet Research Agency" in Russia that pays Russian students from a $10 million budget to each post from six fake FB accounts and 10 fake Twitter accounts--all because Putin hates the internet and thinks it's a CIA plot!

(38,506 posts)I am frightened of this garbage. It is convincing confused people, because I see them on other boards and I see them with Republican stickers saying kill this or that and get this group or that out of the country. Nobody would say that if they weren't full of fear and hate. It comes from somewhere.

(57,936 posts)But I don't think Americans fall for that very easily.
With regard to the Ukraine, there was a lot of obvious propaganda. But otherwise????
Putin is, by American standards, just not a very likeable guy.

(1,151 posts)The ministers of propaganda are apart of our discussion here. And by being here, we are all under surveillance. But so is everyone else ,every where they live every where they go. If you fear propaganda and deceptive conversation here, try turning on a TV. Its 1000 times worse. They should ban TV. Every form of media should be here. And it will be one day because the old telephone lines are dieing. Satellite Sky's will be free and worldwide. Or the end of freedom will occur unless it already has.
So dont try to hide. You cannot hide. You can stand down and live in fear. You can pretend they arent watching you but they are and when they reveal themselves you should not act surprised.

Not speaking here of Russia, specifically, but of any organized group with a payroll and an agenda.

(3,974 posts)The paid trolls were coming out of the woodwork on DU to do damage control for the nuclear industry for that one. It was breathtaking. They did a good job of it, too.

(26,727 posts)The Russian trolls have been pumping the anti-nuclear hysteria because it helps their natural gas exports. They've been actively opposing expansions of nuclear power in Europe and Japan in particular.
All you have to do is watch their propaganda arms' (RT/RIA Novosti/english.pravda.ru/etc) "reporting" on Fukushima.
Of course... they don't broadcast such hyper-alarmism in the countries that they want to export their own reactors to.
IMO - it's probably better than even money that Enenews is part of their program.

(95,244 posts)Russia's entire policy in this is predicated on the sound calculation the U.S. and NATO will not fight, in fact will not run the slightest risk of war, no matter how flagrantly Russia mis-behaves.
The idea anyone is seriously trying to beat up a war with Russia is absurd.
About the most absurd expression of the charge I have seen yet comes from Zuesse, main-stay of the 'false-flag' swill regarding MH-17....

Indications that the U.S. Is Planning a Nuclear Attack Against Russia
"Certainly, Obama means business here, but the big question is whether hell be able to get the leaders of other democratic nations to go along with his first-strike plan.
The two likeliest things that can stop him, at this stage, would be either NATOs breaking up, or else Putins deciding to take a political beating among his own public for simply not responding to our increasing provocations. Perhaps Putin will decide that a temporary embarrassment for him at home (for being wimpy) will be better, even for just himself, than the annihilation of his entire country would be. And maybe, if Obama pushes his indubitable Superpower card too hard, hell be even more embarrassed by this conflict than Putin will be. After all, things like this and this arent going to burnish Obamas reputation in the history books, if he cares about that. But maybe hes satisfied to be considered to have been George W. Bush II, just a far better-spoken version: a more charming liar than the original. However, if things come to a nuclear invasion, even a U.S. victory wont do much more for Obamas reputation than Bushs victory in Iraq did for his. In fact, perhaps Americans will then come to feel that George W. Bush wasnt Americas worst President, after all. Maybe the second half of the Bush-Obama Presidency will be even worse than the first."
