(18,618 posts)With all their carping about steadfast ideals, liberals dig the grave for all of us by convincing the lazy and indifferent that voting is a waste of time.
There are far more democrats than republicans in this country. The problem is that we don't vote. An uneducated redneck republican would walk five miles to the polls in a driving blizzard limping with an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound if necessary.

(2,961 posts)And I've never discouraged anyone from voting. And I think there are probably many Liberals like me.

(18,618 posts)I'm more concerned with those who are so sorely disappointed with any pol to the right of Dennis Kucinich they take to the forum with angered rhetoric that lumps those politicians in with the republican right. Certainly if that's true, I can see why so many democrats find little reason to cast a vote, and that was my point.
I should have referred to steadfast ideologues who call ethical treason at the first whisper of compromise for the sake of campaign and efficient governance.
I'm sorry I painted with such a carelessly broad brush. I consider myself well left of center, probably seen by most as a liberal as well.

However, I've heard many a conservative denigrate liberals with this type of smear. Please don't join them in slamming liberals.

(2,961 posts)I hear it all the time down here, spoken by people who claim to be independent, but who are really Republican. I mean why would you defend Republicans if you're not one? I'll be at the polls tomorrow. Wild horses couldn't keep me away.

(11,637 posts)To put them (undecided voters) in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. Can I interest you in the chicken? she asks. Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.
I mean, really, whats to be confused about?

(750 posts)Everyone in EarlGs photo likely more than fulfills the requirement to be displayed in Pillory, done a few centuries ago, however today the pillory seems to have taken a turn in modern mainstream media broadcast Journalism.
take a look a old fashion pillory
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Waller_(perjurer)
John Waller, a highwayman and perjurer, was sentenced to a jail term and pillory in 1732 after giving false information to the courts,
from which he benefited financially .
Unfortunately he was killed while in the pillory by Edward Dalton, whose brother had been executed as a consequence of Waller's perjury.
Today millions suffer because of simple grid lock, the perjury displayed in a happy smile. Or war profiteering, or housing banking swindles. Especially the lack of free health care. Or free education, or a living wage, or denial of climate change. Those faces, those politicians that EarlG put together are that unique wonderland of message deception, and worse of all mainstream media complicity.
Yep, that famous bumper sticker saying its the economy stupid should be its the vote stupid

(503 posts)Or the aforementioned clip from Airplane might work, if you use the chicken vs. rotten fish analogy.
Chances of Republicans taking both the House and the Senate
WASH POST: 96% CHANCE
CNN 95%
NYT: 70%
WOO HOO! Nothing like that to FIRE UP DEMOCRATS!..except
them trying to suppress the vote.
Now the Republicans will 'stay home', because they've
got it in the bag (per Rove), one more time.
Can't go on the old standards. This election is different.
Democrats play CHESS. Republicans play ..checkers.

Reagan's idea of getting rid of Unions will never happen.

Al Gore has proposed using social security numbers lets call republicans bluff that say they want to stop illegal aliens from voting. they don't even when republicans try to pay one to vote like in arizona until he realized what they were going to do to him when he voted! They want to stop minorities from voting don't whine call their bluff!

(165 posts)The election in this nation are most criminal, worst then China and Russia. Big Corporations and big money decides who will run in the elections. Voters have lost their votes and choices. Look at Richmond, CA where Chevron is spending millions to elect the Mayor and council so they can built a new refinery and no pollution controls or regulations. This is what big money and corporation can do.

(165 posts)The GOP will defund the EPA and set this nation back 100 years in pollution. The GOP is controlled by Koch brothers who take in billions a year on coal and oil. AFC will be repeal bit by bit. McConnell is the real ISIS, don't worry about Syria or Iraq, worry about what McConnell and the GOP will be doing to this nation and the people. It will be total destruction.
