OMG - The largest musical instrument ever built by humans!

Thought this was worth a share -- music at the center of life back in the 1920's and 30's!

The Atlantic City Convention Hall Organ -- the largest musical instrument ever built by humans, the most powerful instrument on the planet, over 150 TONS !!!

In 1986, organ restorer and historian Nelson Barden discovered a lost collection of Convention Hall Organ construction photos in an Atlantic City photography studio. He donated the photographs to The Atlantic City Convention Hall Organ Society. Below is a video montage of Ferdinand Hess' photographs of the construction of the great Atlantic City Convention Hall pipe organ.

In the second vid (which I haven't finished), my eyes opened wide at the men working with the tools that, today, they would be using with eye protection...

Here's hoping the instrument gets properly restored

here in Philly (in what was once the Wanamaker's department store, now Macy's) -





I believe they play it twice a day during the year and I know they do yearly holiday performances with a full light show.
