Sony PicturesSony Pictures Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray Matthew Warchus' film Pride (2014), starring Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Dominic West. The release will be available for purchase on December 23rd.

Official synopsis: Pride is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It's the summer of 1984 and much of blue-collar Great Britain is on strike. For one tiny Welsh village, the strike brings unexpected visitors -- a group of London-based activists who decide to raise money to support the strikers' families and want to make their donation in person. In this feel-good, heartwarming comedy, two groups, seemingly from worlds apart, discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.

Special Features:
Six All-New Deleted & Extended Scenes

Support and donations can come from the unlikeliest of sources. An encouraging sentiment that's felt in the new international trailer for "Pride," the British miner-strike dramedy starring Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Paddy Considine, Bill Nighy, Andrew Scott, George MacKay, and Joseph Gilgun.

Set in the summer of 1984, during the turbulent Thatcher era, the film depicts the fascinating true story of a small mining village in Wales that collectively went on strike, but in the process found themselves attracting an unlikely group of allies: London's very own Lesbian and Gay community.

How this blue-collar town form an improbable partnership with a supportive group of Gay activists seem to be the crux of this light comedic drama that appears to be cut from the same cloth as other British-made crowd-pleasers, namely "Kinky Boots" and "The Full Monty."

Directed by stage and Broadway helmer Matthew Warchus, "Pride" doesn't have a US release date, but is set to open in the UK on September 12th.

synopsis:

It's Summer 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power, and the National Union of Mineworkers are on strike! At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. But the only problem is the Union seems too embarrassed to receive their support. Not discouraged, the activists ignore the Union and go direct to the miners. They identify a small mining village in Wales to make their donations to the community in person. This journey begins a surprising partnership between two seemingly alien communities as they fight for the same cause.
