(5,610 posts)irks me (not his message), I found this piece more tolerable. I hope that Brand will publicly endorse Bernie Sanders in his POTUS run.
IMO, this will be our last chance (if voting works) to peacefully change America into what the majority wants.
I abhor the very real possibility of my grand children living in a war zone.
My 18 year old's life has been so different from the America that I grew up in. We are white and I do see the different reality that black children have endured. Many of his friends are black and they hung out here along with his other friends. Most of them were more respectful and appreciative of a safe place to hang out and interact. I always felt more calm when they hung out here because I know the violence they may encounter by hanging out on the streets.

(2,741 posts)in Georgia, I attended segregated schools. I was not allowed by my parents to have ANY black friends. We did not go to their part of town; they were not allowed in the white part unless they were working for white folks.
What a totally FUCKED UP place!!

(3,544 posts)The case of the NRA and the senate rejecting tighter guns laws hits the nail on the head. I hate to say it, but until we get these OLD power hungry racist lobbyists out of power, we're stuck with it. So I expect this will not change until I'm long dead. The young generation of today, your grandchildren, will have the burden to change the country. And from what I've seen so far, they may have a shot at it.
