TYT: Torture Report Causes Awesome Eruption From Fox News Anchor

"That the CIA used interrogation methods on detainees that bordered on torture isn’t a particularly new story, but the report released today by the Senate Intelligence Committee was the first one to describe it in brutally graphic detail. But Fox News’s Andrea Tantaros challenged that narrative, asking on Outnumbered: why is it that the Democrats want to portray America as not awesome?

“Dianne Feinstein wants to get this off her desk,” she argued, pointing out that the Californian Senator would no longer be Chairwoman of the Committee come January, and that the Democrats were likely using the torture report for political reasons.

“The United States of America is awesome,” she continued. “We are awesome. But we’ve had this discussion. We’ve closed the book on it. The reason they want the discussion is not to show how awesome we are. It’s to show us how we’re not awesome. They apologized for something."* The Young Turks hosts John Iadarola (TYT University), Steve Oh and Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show) break it down.

8. It Should Be Noted

That this is a "tactic" to try to group the whole country, and every American in it, to the Republican Party, then paint Democrats, or anyone who complains as a person who doesn't love America, and is wrong about everything, always hating on America.

Now I take her "we" to mean only the Bush Administration, and the supporters of torture at FOX news, and in the country. To which, I'd say, you're far from awesome, unless you're talking about how low you can go, how terrible you can be, or the levels of anti-human behavior, you can achieve.

WILL NEVER BE CLOSED, with a lot of us or the tortured detainees, men, women and CHILDREN!!!! This willful blindness by the RW noise machine is so infuriating and transparent. Tortured children has made a new generation of "awesome amerika" hating people, and they hate with good cause. How is is this type of person allowed to spout this BS? 6. The US needs more CITIZENS and fewer FANS.

So many Republicans, and especially their talking heads in the media, simply serve as America's fans -- "We're #1! We're #1!" -- like this country is just a big sports franchise. They treat democracy like it's a football game; it's shallow and embarrassing, and does not serve democracy well at all.

We need more citizens.
