This song is probably Number One on Dick Cheney's playlist.

I picked this version because it's got Zappa's High School pal Captain Beefheart on vocals.

Zappa is "optional entertainment for those that have outgrown the oridinary" so don't feel obliged to inflict the entire 9 minutes on yourselves. The point is made probably in the first minute or two.

I really do feel like I live in a nation of fascism-ready pod people. The majority of my fellow countrymen approve of our government torturing people as ordered by the Executive Branch. Why didn't we just go to the most eye-for-an-eye method and fly some of their 747's in to some of their skyscrapers and Pentagons? That would completely remove any doubt what so ever that America has matched the level of moral depravity and evil of "those bastards that got us on 9-11."

Don't fuck with the USA. We're the shining city on the hill and we'll drone anybody that even looks at us funny. And their precious little wedding parties too!

I imagine this one is more his speed:

Bang, bang, banging in your head
You're banging on the walls
Hang, hang, hanging up yourself
You're hanging by your balls
And you, you die but no-one hears or cares
And hope's the rope that keeps you tied in knots

The torture never stops
The torture never stops

Suck, suck, sucking at your life
Your master sucks the juice
Shoot, shoot, shooting at you
And the hangman's noose is loose
And you, you cry but no-one hears or cares
And hope's the rope that keeps you tied in knots

The torture never stops
The torture never stops

Your masters beat you bloody
Still you're running back for more
And every day, you lay down and play the whore

The torture never stops
The torture never stops

A true musical genius that died too soon. I saw him in concert once in the early seventies and I was hooked from then on and unfortunately, I was never able to see him in concert again.

Thanks, Jimmy. I had never heard that particular version of The Torture Never Stops. That is probably more in line with DU sensibilities than the Zoot Alures version.
