Seems sad, slowly coming true.

(26,624 posts)Collapse of liberalism ushers in Political paralysis means no rational response.
Naturally a rational approach to student debt would be to forgive it like we did foreign bank debt. But that is not rational to forgive debt from a foreign bank, but not do the same for our own children with our tax dollars.
Overturning 200 years of domestic law during war time that may go on forever-not a rational response.

Hedges isn't saying anything in that short speech that he hasn't already said numerous times, before. Maybe if he repeats all this stuff often enough it will sink in and the American people will get wise to what's going on. I'm not encouraged, though.
Yes, Clinton sold us down the river. And Obama is a brand. We can say that, now, because Obama is a used commodity at this point in time; that is, he can't run for another term. If he could, we would all be expected to get on board and move heaven and earth to elect another Democrat - as if that would make any difference in the lives of THE PEOPLE of this country.
As it is, the 2016 campaign will soon be upon us, and we can all make-nice with Hillary, who thought it was just screamingly funny that Gaddafi was murdered by being sodomized with a sword. "We came, we saw, he died", she said, and then cackled like the wicked witch of the west.
But one must weep for poor Libya. Once a country, under Gaddafi, with the highest human development index of any country on the African continent - universal medical care, nearly 90% literacy rate, free university education, just for starters - now, a country without what anyone could call a functioning government. But, never mind. The Empire of Chaos has moved on to the next "humanitarian" project.
Gaddafi's fatal flaw, of course, was his vision of creating a pan-African bank built on the gold Dinar instead of the petrodollar. Oops! One can't piss off the Empire, don'tcha know. I guess this relates, in some way, to the "problems with capitalism" alluded to in the OP. I despair!
