I liked his work on 9/11, but he may not exactly be the credible spokesperson we need on this.

And to be perfectly honest unless something happens to make the world unable to support life at all I would think it more likely than not that some form of human civilization somewhere on the planet would survive.

5. Not if the phytoplankton dies off due to increasing pollution and acidity of the oceans.

The vast majority, something close to 90% of our oxygen, is created by phytoplankton. We are playing with things we don't truly understand yet.
Until we can get corporations out of power we will continue to act like Lemmings running over a cliff! Big money and THEIR mass media elect our politicians, not us really. Because they can control most of our elected officials, from School Board to POTUS, they write the laws and control the regulatory agencies.

6. Actually even if that happens civilization could survive.

Not saying it would of course because if that did happen it would make it even far more difficult as the survivors would have to generate their own oxygen but its possible.

Edit: Calling them 'civilized' might be a stretch though.

4. I Don't Know About the Book, but this Video is Misnamed

It should be, "How can we facilitate the switchover to clean energy?" This video is still good, even though misnamed, and is good watching for anyone interested in the climate crisis. Perhaps this video's evasion of providing us with the answer posed by its title is indicative that speculating or projecting about the likelihood of humanity surviving the climate crisis if we stay on the path we're on is something that is just too gloomy or scary to contemplate, and nobody in their right mind really wants to go down that road. This video provides valuable food for thought as to how we can facilitate and speed up the switch to clean energy. I have yet to see a clear, concise, objective reckoning or accounting of how we can address our energy needs with the right mix of clean energy versus the older technologies, where absolutely necessary; it's something that is, no doubt, being blocked and obfuscated at every turn by Big Oil and the dirty energy interests that control our economy, and our planet.
