I was an Independent for some 20 years until 1992. When I heard him speak, I liked his ideas. While other candidates were pointing fingers in attempting to place blame on the nation's fiscal woes, Tsongas essentially said we all needed to pitch in to solve the problem.

I registered as a Democrat to vote for him in the Kansas caucus of 1992. Although Bill Clinton got the nod, I stayed in the party and have been ever since.
