TYT: Obama Wants End Of Gay Conversion Therapy For Minors
Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses President Barack Obama calling for end to therapies that claim to convert homosexuals to heteronormative people.
"An official statement has been released by President Barack Obama condemning therapies aimed at converting members of the LGBTQ into straight heterosexual people. This statement comes after a petition calling for the end of the practice appeared on WhiteHouse.Gov. The petition was in honor of 17 year old Leelah Alcorn, a transgender young woman who exploded her body all over a tractor trailer to avoid being returned to conversation therapy, according to her suicide note.
This is just another step that Obama has taken in recent years towards furthering gay rights, adding it to his list of support that includes his repeal of the Pentagon's 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy."
