28 working groups made up of senior executives and lobbyist have rigged this deal. I agree with Elizabeth Warren- make the facts transparent and let's talk about them and have some oversight.

It's designed to benefit the people who are writing it, at the expense of everybody else, which is 99% of us. Give or take.

(26,624 posts)The fast track trade promotion authority bill has been introduced in the Senate. Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution says, The Congress shall have power to
regulate commerce with foreign nations. But under fast track, Congress relinquishes that power and agrees to pass trade bills brought to them by the executive branch in a very short time frame with little debate and without making any changes should any problems present themselves.

A trade agreement that affects jobs, environmental regulations, and whether workers around the globe are treated humanely. It might even affect the new financial rules we put in place after the 2008 crisis. This trade agreement doesnt matter to just the biggest corporations it matters to all of us."
Thanks for link. I was happy to see it has a place to voice a NO TPP vote to legislators.

How has that worked for extended NAFTA and allowing us to know why corporate administrators and lobbyists rights trump the American people?

I just dont think thats reasonable, she said.
This week, House and Senate committees signed off on bills that would give the president so-called trade promotion authority on the deal that would give Congress an up or down vote on it without an ability to amend it an issue that has revealed sharp divides in the Democratic party.
Mr. Obama, speaking at an Organizing for Action summit Thursday, called the Trans-Pacific Partnership the most progressive trade agreement in our history.
So when people say that this trade deal is bad for working families, they dont know what theyre talking about, he said.
