Whoop-de-do! 130 jobs for $600 million subsidy.

Minnesota is being blackmailed by Vikings owner, billionaire Zygi Wilf. He claims he'll move his losing team to Los Angeles if Minnesotans don't cough up $600 or $700 million to build him a new stadium. While Minnesota is cutting money for education, healthcare, housing, the elderly and disabled, it is insane to spend hundreds of millions on a stadium the Vikings will play in 10 days a year!

and wish them well, IIRC. They huff, they puff, ... and they stay.

I hope MN can do the same.

Football is a religion there. It's like god saying he'll abandon his people if they don't build him a new temple.

never need worry about such blackmail by the pampered and decadent. By the way, if memory serves, the Supreme Court has expanded eminent domain to cover just such economic contingencies as this.

it's ludicrous to me that taxpayers support millionaires to take more of their taxpayer dollars. Ask the owners to open their books before another dime is siphoned out of the hardworking taxpayer's pocket.

To have a sports team in cities, not a right. And the TEAMS should have to pay ALL costs. They wastes millions on the players salaries, they can afford it.

I cannot believe that anyone at DU would spout that bullshit. The players take the hits, not the owners. The players draw the viewers and the sponsors, not the owners. But the real money, the outrageous real money, goes to the owners.

This is SO true. However, nearly all the players in the pro leagues are among the 1%ers. But this is what society is willing to pay them for.

I realize the players take such a huge toll on their bodies and many players are left permanently injured for life, which is so much shorter then the actuary tables suggest.

Be this what may, ALL pro sports teams are owned by a billionaire or a consortium of such, EXCEPT my beloved Green Bay Packers (socialism at its finest!) and will continue to be manipulated by these greedy people. YOU continue to uphold this positive reinforcement situation.

I read a story in Mad Magazine years ago where pro sports teams became as irrelevant as Rush is to us. Can't we see this becomes fact? Boycott the billionaires!

That the jobs package South Carolina offered and then gave BMW to build a plant there cost the state an estimated $80,000 per job. This case seems to be a so much greater cost.
