Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed legislation last week that prohibits cities and towns in his state from banning fracking. The power to restrict oil and gas operations will now lie solely with the state, and since its Texas, those restrictions will probably be non-existent.
While its not at all surprising that Texas Republicans put the wants and needs of the fossil fuel industry over the health and safety of the states residents, it is depressing. This is just another example of the GOP bowing down to corporations that fund their campaigns.

(10,495 posts)I thought Republicans stand for local control and don't like being told what to do? These ignorant idiots seem to not understand that they are being manipulated by corporations and the Plutocrats. This goes against everything they supposedly stand for!

and our democracy in terms of what corporations are doing that we have not condoned.

(41,118 posts)contaminating the land, water, air, wildlife and us. Not to mention tearing up roads with the transport trucks, earthquakes and using up fresh water supplies. Corporate heaven= H*ll for living things. Corps. don't clean up their waste, but "externalize costs" so we get the damage and diseases, they get the profit. It's fracked up!
