‘Fox & Friends’ hosts fail ‘manhood’ test after tire change ends in near disaster

The hosts of Fox & Friends nearly caused serious damage to a rental car on Tuesday while trying to prove their “manhood” by changing a tire.

Fox News — and Fox & Friends in particular — have set a high bar for painful television news, and hosts Scott Brown and Brian Kilmeade kept the tradition alive on Tuesday when they tried to take retired Navy SEAL Derrick Van Orden’s “manhood” test.

Round one of the test was to tie a necktie, which Kilmeade accomplished with the help of his teeth and his co-host.

Kilmeade and Brown teamed up once again for changing a tire on a car that had been loaned by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Confusion immediately ensued as Brown began cranking the jack while Kilmeade sent lug nuts rolling across the pavement.

“This is what a man does, not just a male,” Van Orden noted.

“Whoa, watch it, Brian!” Brown exclaimed as the car began to roll forward, suggesting that the parking brake had not been engaged.

“Jack it up?” Kilmeade asked.

“No, it’s jacked,” Brown noted.

“Okay, so lug nuts are out,” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck chimed in.

“Watch your feet, Elisabeth,” Brown warned. “The jack is falling.”

“The jack is falling?” Kilmeade said while attempt to push the car back onto the jack.

“The jack is falling,” Brown repeated.

“We’ve got teamwork going on right now,” Hasselbeck remarked.

Not being able to change a tire doesn't make you less of a man, it makes you unprepared for emergencies. It should not be sex based. That is what I find a little offensive.

quality I prefer to pay for someone to use a real jack and get it done right. As far as I am concerned the jack is only provided for when you are in Death Valley and need to change the tire immediately.

I have changed quite a few tires using the provided jack over the years so I can do it - just don't see the need.

Either that or I drive it up on ramps and then jack it up - but obviously that doesn't work if the car doesn't start or is otherwise immobile.

It was a typical weekend get together of shade tree mechanics and beer. A mutual friend of ours who was a really BIG Morongo Indian was working under a car when it fell off of the jack with a loud "BANG!!!". We were all caught slack jawed looking at his seemingly lifeless legs sticking out from under the car. Just then a voice came from underneath saying, "Okay, NOW I'm sober."

Notice, as you suffer through this stupid clip, that they are ALL trying to be clever, cute, or whatever they are trying to be; and the blond bimbo is trying to ask questions to anyone who is listening to her, which is no one.
Funny in the sense that two and often three people are rattling off crap at the same time this dense "seal" is trying to gain publicity for his stupid stunt.

Tue May 26, 2015, 06:29 PM
May 2015

The last flat tire I had was on a winding 2 lane mountain road with a very narrow loose gravel shoulder on either side. The shoulder fell away from the road at about a 20 degree angle. I was able to pull all 4 wheels onto the shoulder but since the flat was on the driver's side I didn't want to use the supplied jack to lift the left side of the car because I was afraid I'd raise the center of gravity so high that the whole car would tip over. So I did what any man would do, if he had a brain. I called road service. They came out with their hydraulic jacks took one look and decided that they didn't want to try to change the tire where it was so they called out the tow truck and winched the entire car up onto the platform, hauled it back to the garage, replaced the flat and sent me on my way.

The car rolled and I am guessing the E break was not engaged.
Don't take the lug nuts off before you jack the car. Just loosen them. Then when the car is jacked up and STABLE take the nuts off.
When this car rolled the first thing that should have been done is to put a couple of the lug nuts back on.
This stuff is no joke. I know people who have been killed working under cars that fell of jacks.
AAA is a very good service. Use it.

Real flat tire changing, though, involves trying to crack corroded lug nuts loose that have been overtightened and possibly cross-threaded by tire store mechanics who used air-powered wrenches, then finding out the spare has no air in it. (Hint: check the spare before investing time in removing the flat.)
