Saying he is stunned to be ahead of Hillary Clinton already in current polls in both Iowa and New Hampshire, Bernie Sanders speaks to the resonance of his message, and how surprised he is that the message is being felt so fast across the spectrum. He discusses how people want a revolutionary change in the system and should represent everyone, not just large campaign contributors and corporations.

(5,644 posts)I am so fricken tired of hearing stories about Donald Trump and all of those dimwits on the right.
Most every story reported on MSNBC is about candidates in the GOP. I don't even watch MSNBC anymore. Let me hear what's going on with O'Malley, Sanders, Clinton...anybody in the Democratic party.
Is that how MSNBC is trying to get us caught up in the Republic0n party.

(5,208 posts)Watch Bernie on TV and wishing that he run for president; And now, here he is running for president. It's all so exciting. It fills me with joy and hope for the future.

(8,479 posts)I'm right with you, azmom! I have done the same thing. Watching him on CSPAN, hearing him on Thom Hartmann, wishing he was my rep, my senator. Never thinking he would run for POTUS. Wishing he would, and dismissing the idea. He didn't seem to entertain the idea himself, he just did his job, focused on the work of governance and representing his constituents with reason , common sense and critical thinking. I'm so glad he's running and forcing a discussion of real issues. It's so much fun to watch him circumvent the media games and get his message out. He has passion and fire, and he's so genuine. And he's the same Bernie he's always been. I love it!

(5,927 posts)they might have to actually pay attention to him. Tragic.
Yeah, I was listening to Diane Rehm one day and they were going on and on and on about Hillary and Trump and Cruz and Bush and then they acted like they were done, it was time to take phone calls and the first caller said something along the lines of, "So yeah, I wanted to call and ask you guys something, because everyone is listening and is noticing that the media kind of has a blackout on him but, I wanted to know why you guys aren't talking about Bernie Sanders?"
The panel was all like, "Ohh! Well yeah Bernie Sanders, blah blah blah" and they started speaking good of him, (not like they could say anything bad really) but it was like "oh shit they noticed we didn't mention him, damn it."

(1,432 posts)He simply states Joe is not running and therefore, he's not going to discuss Joe's politics, and then goes on to discuss how his policy positions differ from Clinton's.
I'm not Wolf Blitzer fan by any stretch, but this is a positive interview and great exposure for Sanders. Glad to see it and hope to see more!
Go Bernie!

(16,916 posts)Blitzer framed nearly every question in respect to Bernie's opinion on Hillary or Biden:
"Hillary said 'Yada' - Biden does 'Blablah.' Senator Sanders, why do these other people do and say these things?"
But Bernie flips each of Wolf's questions into an opportunity to deliver his own message. Bernie is the most consistent, focused, on message, proud progressive I've ever seen.
If we don't do whatever it takes to make this man President, we probably don't deserve our democracy.
Feel the Bern!

(58,112 posts)Blitzer never asked a question or made a statement regarding the actual, critical, substantive issues affecting the American People.
Does the corporate media give a rat's ass about the people?
Hell No!
It's all about the horse race, these people are clueless, tone deaf and/or bought and paid for.
Kudos to Bernie.
Thanks for the thread, tomm2thumbs.

(12,655 posts)but wolf,....i was almost embarrassed for him. except for a question or two about biden, he couldn't get a question out without hillary being every other word. he was tripping over himself to try and goad bernie.
i don't know if i could show my face again if i were him. what a pathetic, pandering display.

(57,936 posts)Bernie -- as usual, excellent interview, sticks to the issues, advocates for the American people. I'd love to see him talking to foreign leaders. Everybody says that foreign policy is not his forte, and that may or may not be true. But Bernie's common sense approach to all problems is such a winner, I would love to see him talking to some of the difficult leaders in the world like Putin. I think they would be shocked by his honesty. His dedication to doing right by the American people is so refreshing.

(4,775 posts)He knows it's Wolf's "job" to phrase the questions in a certain way, always pushing the horse race instead of the policies that matter. Looking for devisive angles the media can exploit for ratings while keeping the real issues out of the frame of discussion.
But the part many here are missing, is Bernie knows that it's NOT Wolf's job to elicit any certain response from Bernie. Wolf didn't fail, at all, in this interview, he did exactly what he was supposed to do. Wolf just has to provide the framing, then he's done his job, and he doesn't appear particularly invested in where it goes after he asks a question.
This frees up Bernie to respond however he wants to. Bernie chooses to stick with the issues, ignoring the empty horse-race stuff. Bernie is all about the issues. And he's a pro, as is Wolf. Two pros, each doing their task well. I can't stand Blitzer, but he is very good at serving certain interests, in a seemingly transparent way. Not a problem for Bernie, Wolf gets to ask his stupid questions, Bernie gets to make his points, and no hard feelings either way. Bernie's very very good at this game, he's been doing it for a long time, and pretty much every time Bernie is dealing wiith someone ideologically to the right of him, so he's got this down to a routine exercise.
