Thousands of refugees walked across Europe. We walked with them, every step of the way...

"Incredible film by John Domokos for the Guardian. Touching, thought-provoking and powerful." - Owen Jones

Thousands of refugees were sleeping rough at Budapest’s Keleti station, waiting for trains to take them to western Europe. Then, they just got up and walked. Guardian journalist and filmmaker John Domokos went with them, every step of the way. This is the story of one Syrian family, and those who came out to help.

This is a very moving film. I urge all to put pressure on the president and our congress to let more refugees into the U.S. We caused their tragedies with our wars. Syria and Iraq were not human rights paradises but last time I was there people were eating, had housing and health care and families were strong and intact. Now all that is swept away. This is not Europe's problem, it is OUR
problem. Take responsibility.
