TYT: Why Is Pentagon Downplaying ISIS’s Strength?

The picture we’ve been given of the fight against ISIS and Al Quaeda in Iraq and Syria has apparently been intentionally manipulated to fit the storyline that the war is going well and ISIS is slowly but surely going down. Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz (Turner Classic Movies), John Iadarola (Think Tank), and Wes Clark Jr., hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military’s Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda’s branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.

The complaints spurred the Pentagon’s inspector general to open an investigation into the alleged manipulation of intelligence. The fact that so many people complained suggests there are deep-rooted, systemic problems in how the U.S. military command charged with the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State assesses intelligence.

“The cancer was within the senior level of the intelligence command,” one defense official said.”*

CentCom was pissed that he was put in charge of the effort last summer--so right off the bat Obama pissed off his own military leadership and undermined them with a disgraced retired General placed seemingly above them (he of the thousands of flirtatious Jill Kelly emails). A year later, what success has he had, besides begging and finally getting from Turkey the promise of fighting ISIS and the use of Incirlik (and then Turkey promptly began going after Kurds with their airstrikes rather than ISIS)? I have never understood why Obama always kept Allen and Petraeus around--and massaged and flattered with jobs and public advice-seeking--like they were old best buds, no matter how disgraceful and dishonorable both men showed themselves to be.
