The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill which repealed a law allowing public carrying of loaded firearms. Named after Republican assemblyman Don Mulford, the bill garnered national attention after the Black Panthers marched bearing arms upon the California State Capitol to protest the bill.[1][2] The bill was signed by Republican California Governor Ronald Reagan and became California penal code 12031 and 171(c)

now. What a wreck that old man, his followers and successors like Bush (ugh!) have made of this country. In 1980 I was in DC when Raygun was elected and inaugurated that next January. Young, busy and working then I was in shock and disbelief, blind sided.

That's why we cannot disregard Trumpf as a mere clown who will fade. He's very dangerous like others and with this county so declined and unstable now it could happen again.

In the fight forward and to preserve our democracy we must remain determined, strong and courageous, like Bernie!

Go Bernie Go!

But he is too far to the left, and everyone will not acknowledge that, in the Party, its like having that Beloved Crazy Uncle who the family secretly kept hidden in a room in the basement
that was only let out for laughs and the occasional family Reunions.

After campaigning in 1980 against President Carter for having a federal budget of $1 trillion dollars, the first time we ever spent that much money, Reagan proved to be the biggest hypocrite the GOP had ever had (up to that time).

Soon after he was in the White House, Reagan wrote a bigger budget than Carter's budget, and in the process, created larger deficits, and then in every succeeding year, Reagan continued to set new, bigger records for deficits.

George H.W. Bush publicly criticized Reagan for that, and he promised to do a better job than Saint Ronny.
Yet, instead of bringing deficits down, he broke Reagan's last record deficit with his very first budget!
Then in every succeeding year, Bush got budgets that set even bigger record deficits.

We had 12 straight years of record deficits, and the GOP voters in this country didn't think it was any big whoop until the recession of 1991.
And then James Carville coined his famous campaign meme of 1992, "It's the economy, stupid."

I don't think any of them have the complete contempt for the constitution shown by Reagan. Of sure, they can propose deporting gays to their own island, and various other crazy shit, but can they actually do something like Iran-Contra? That's a landmark achievement in the realm of constitutional disrespect. Lincoln suspended habeus corpus, and Roosevelt approved internment of Japanese-Americans, but those things are peanuts compared to what Reagan did. He set up a shadow government, a secret organization intended to steal money from the real government and use it for illegal projects such as overthrowing other governments. A government of the spies, by the spies, and for the spies. We have had 43 other presidents, and nothing any of them have done compares to the treason committed by Reagan. Hell, you can add up all of their sins put together, and they pale in comparison. Nope. None of these pretenders can claim the mantle of Ronald Reagan, our biggest traitor.

with the idea being that the local communities would be able to handle the mental patients..

Many of these same people are still wandering around California cities, talking to themselves, pushing shopping carts, sleeping in doorways etc.

Reagan did the same thing when he became president.
.He closed down federal mental hospitals;
and cut the budget for mental health services & outreach programs for veterans and the poor.

downtown cultural sites, peeing in fountains and sleeping on heat grates or wherever at night. Not their fault, there was no community system put in place to help them which was Raygun's rationale for closing the many state institutions which had issues as you say. How tragic and barbaric for the wealthiest country on earth, like our many unemployed, homeless and incarcerated people now. 40 years of selfish, greedy conservative rule! Enough is enough!

When you point out the realities of their man-god mythological Reagan, they'll throw him under the bus so fast, that if it even caused them to blink, you'd miss it.
