At a meeting in Exxon Corporation's headquarters, a senior company scientist named James F. Black addressed an audience of powerful oilmen. Speaking without a text as he flipped through detailed slides, Black delivered a sobering message: carbon dioxide from the world's use of fossil fuels would warm the planet and could eventually endanger humanity.

"In the first place, there is general scientific agreement that the most likely manner in which mankind is influencing the global climate is through carbon dioxide release from the burning of fossil fuels," Black told Exxon's Management Committee, according to a written version he recorded later.

It was July 1977 when Exxon's leaders received this blunt assessment, well before most of the world had heard of the looming climate crisis.

1. Try not to think about it....money being made
2. If it is true then make as much profit as you can before the trouble starts
3. See steps 1 and 2

... a major oil company knew 40 years ago that Earth's atmosphere had reached a saturation point, and that further discharge of fossil fuel pollutants would intensify global warming at an ever-increasing rate - what we now call a "positive feedback loop" - and that the consequences were predictable and certain to become catastrophic if efforts to curtail said pollutants were not undertaken immediately. And these evil motherfuckers not only concealed that knowledge and did nothing, they spent millions to lie about it and to PREVENT ANYONE from doing anything about it.

If ever there was a crime against humanity, this is it.

HONEY? Where's our guillotine?

took a Geology class in '76. He came back from class one day and said his professor had started talking about greenhouse gas emissions which would result in the warming of the planet. Think it's interesting that a geology professor that far back was well-versed on the topic. If he was, there had to be a good bit of information released about this before then, if nowhere else than academic journals. It amazes me in a very bad way how, 39 years down the road, so little has been done to fix this. Even worse, the climate change deniers showed up to push progress back at least 20 more years.

I'm glad I'm the age I am now and probably won't know much about the worst of it. I feel sorry for the young people of today who are going to have to deal with it when it becomes a full-blown problem with no remedies.

for more money.

Like the movie 2012, I have no doubt that it has been planned for and plans made knowing full well what the future holds.
