Employers often conduct pre-employment credit checks and dont hire people with bad credit scores. Senator Elizabeth Warren thinks this is none of their business. Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian (The Point), John Iadarola (Think Tank), and Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down on tonights Power Panel. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Warrens bill, the Equal Employment for All Act, would make it illegal for employers (outside national security jobs) to require that job applicants disclose their credit history. Warrens Senate bill is co-sponsored by six Senate Democrats, including Vermonts Patrick Leahy and Ohios Sherrod Brown, and is based on a bill Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., introduced in 2011 in the House. A credit score, Warren argued, should not be used as a way to cut people out of the job market.
This is one more way the game is rigged, said Warren. Whereas rich people dont see their credit scores go down 150 points when they get divorced, Warren argued that For millions of working families, a hard, personal blow translates into a hard financial blow that will show up for years in a credit report.*

(14,881 posts)1. I get a monthly credit score through my credit union
it comes with 2 top ways I can improve my credit score (which is very good, btw).
My favorite came a couple months ago and was something along the lines of:
1. you have too high an outstanding credit balance
2. you don't have enough loans
So I need to pay off my current loan and take out new loans? Seriously?

They act like your entire personal life should be available to them.
Some even look at blog posts.

and anything else! Tell it Sister Warren! This didn't exist before the 90s and 2000s, it's discriminatory and unfair esp. in this economy.
