This is a super cool story....and involves a cop no less.

(24,010 posts)What a brave fellow! (I'm pretty sure the voice is male.) And the others are brave, too, for intervening in a situation that clearly could have gotten THEM shot. Finally, several people are saying, "Drop the gun!" and "She ain't going nowhere!" (meaning, he doesn't have to use force to arrest her--she's trapped at the back of the bus). At last, he holsters his gun.
Wonderful, brave, smart people!

(14,007 posts)hard after being asked to let the Transit cop search her bags. She had stolen some soap (!!) and tossed it under a nearby seat when confronted. She struggled, mightily, spraying the cop back when he tried to spray her, grabbing the baton and tried to wrest it from him, As the crowd started yelling and closing in, yes the transit cop pulled his gun and this is where the video begins. The cop has been placed on leave pending further inquiry.
What can be learned here? DON'T fight back to a policeman asking questions. DON'T try to spray a cop, DON'T grab his baton, oh and probably not a swell idea to do all that over a stolen bar of soap. Just my two cents. This could have turned out worse to be sure.

(10,056 posts)ie. The confrontation was de-escalated by the crowd.
And no one is calling the cop bad in this instance.
He did the right thing by putting his gun away.
