Related: About this forumJohn Boehner Exit Interview: Calls Lying Republicans 'False Prophets' on 'Fool's Errand'
John Boehner, as unplugged as I have seen him. Speaking on Face the Nation, Boehner criticizes the GOP members of the House who are running around telling their constituents or other members of the House that they'll be able to pass things that are impossible, like ending Obamacare, or shutting down the government.
He is not a man to overtly criticize, but you can read between the lines in this interview for sure. He has his votes, he knows what he is doing, and he'll be damned if he'll let the GOP Conservatives stop him from leaving his position with anything other than a victory of his own making -- the continued funding of the US government. An interesting interview.
* BONUS: he reinforces his comment about Ted Cruz being a jackass! 5:10 / 6:34

I am willing to drop my cynicism toward him over this.

(12,051 posts)hypocrites that I confess I was truly surprised that one of them could actually have a 'come to Jesus' moment, but I think Boehner did. I'd bet there aren't going to be many more of those moments with other GOPers, though.
I have a set of in-laws whom we cut off 25 years ago who are rabid conservative Catholics; I bet they'd disown the Pope before they would accept one sentence of what this pope is saying.
