(7,875 posts)I love the way the narrator talks about biological weapons like he's talking up a new shopping center where happy consumers can purchase all manner of shiny new TV sets and modern kitchen appliances. And this is the era Republicans pine for a return to.

(15,708 posts)I went to get my flu shot and was talking about getting shots in grade school in the late 50's. I told her that the school nurse had the big stainless steel needle (like in the movies). She would fill it up and poke it in the arm of a kid and then with the same needle keep injecting us one after another until she had to refill it. No alcohol on the arm nothing. Knowledge has come a long way.
Growing up, I knew we would not grow up because of all the duck and cover drills. We knew we would not make it to be 25 because of the Viet Nam "conflict" and the chance of nuclear war. We sure as hell were not going to get old because of all the pollution and crap.
Damn it, made it to 67. I really do not know how in the hell that happened.

Hey, now that this film is released, we're more acutely aware of the psychological issues our culture needs to address in our national discourse in order to try and overcome them.
