Congrats to the kitty, but special respect for the guy who wouldn't give up on the kitty CPR.
How does a single small kitten get that far out in the snow all by itself?

(11,012 posts)who were found abandoned at a middle school (another teacher took one), have a 16 year old cat* that lived feral outside for at least two years until he trusted us enough to stay, have a white kitty who showed up at the corner by my house at five months old... (Not to mention Amber, Annie, Mr. Squeeks, and Gatita, all of whom were abandoned at various places.)
My guess? Someone didn't want the respnsibility of a kitten and dumped it. I'm sure Karma will have a special plan for those people.
*Funny thing about that kitty: Inside he is the most loving, trusting, affectionate kitty around. Outside, he takes off like a rocket if we get to close. He hasn't quite shed the feral cat years yet.

(39,909 posts)They are working cats...mousers who keep rodents out of the garden & chicken coop by bringing them into the house.

(11,012 posts)into the house (with eight cats) and let it loose. All of the cats were curious, but seem to regard the house as "neutral territory" and didn't go after it. Sigh. It took us a month to get that critter out of the house...

(39,909 posts)She announces (raooooowwww) that she has brought us something to eat since we are so fat, slow and clumsy that we could never catch food for ourselves.
She is a little sweetheart caretaker.
The neutered male brings them in (even young rabbits) and keeps them alive to play with later.
It used to freak us out, but it soon becomes a routine part of living in the Woods.
We give the cats 24/7 access to the house through a Kitty Door. We could stop it just by closing the kitty door at night, but they don't like that, and they rule the house.

(1,408 posts)during a sleet/ice storm in late Dec. 1989. Don't know where he came from but he was completely covered in snow and ice.
I thought that I heard a noise at the door and decided that it would be a good time to put some salt down on the porch and steps while checking out the noise.
When I opened the outer, it pushed hard and I heard a cry. He was in a ball and looking up and talking. I went around to the side door because he was against the door and I didn't want to risk hurting him.
He was so cold that he cold hardly move but I could see where he was scratching at the ice on the door.
I ended up on the couch all night with him under my shirt after we dried him off. He was a puffball. He woke me up around daylight by patting me on the nose and telling me that he was hungry.
He didn't seem any the worse for wear but I think he knew he was in the right house. We already had another cat, Herbie, and she accepted him right away.
I named him Zeke and he was my best buddy for 13 yrs. He died in 2002.
He's on the left. Herbie on right. She passed away in 2005 at 20yrs. old. They ruled the house no matter how many cats we had at any time and helped with the fostering that we did.
