(16,038 posts)Restraint systems, air bags, crumple engineering, DUI enforcement and penalty, etc. Bottom line, accident fatalities have been reduced.
Now guns....the vast, vast, vast majority of the 20k suicides annually are not accidents...those committing suicide do so completely intentionally....not a safety issue, it's a mental health issue....not an accident
By far most of the 10k homicides annually are intentional murders committed by people who are motivated to kill someone else...not an accident.
If we want to compare unintentional shootings to car accidents (you know, apples to apples), there has never been any comparison between the numbers ...hundreds vs. Tens of thousands is that comparison....
No, this isn't the firt time this false equivalency has been posted...it is just meaningless statistical manipulation as is the entirety of big gun control's statistical argument....
Oh...and....this is all assuming that the premise "more gun deaths than car deaths" is even true, which is a stretch since I don't ever remember seeing a single truthful statement come from VPC...they are demonstrable and serial liars...

(1,265 posts)...those people's deaths are way less tragic and their absence is not so keenly felt by their friends and loved ones.

(16,038 posts)Comparing elephants to cotton candy is what the VPC is....apparently they capture the imagination of other logic impared...like the hair club for men, only more like the hairbrained club for the logicless....

(16,038 posts)What is your plan for making people not want to kill each other? What about making people not want to commit suicide?
Bernardo de La Paz
(48,966 posts)Yes, better mental health care reduces suicides, but also gun control reduces gun availability to mentally distressed people and reduces the effectiveness of suicide attempts.
This is obvious.
It is only one of many ways to reduce gun deaths.
Are you trolling us by asking such basic questions to which there are such obvious answers? What is your game?

(16,038 posts)And nobody has ever committed suicide because of a gun...it is just dumbshit think like the "murders are caused by guns" idiots..help yourself
