Related: About this forumTYT: Sen. Claire McCaskill: Bernie Will DOOM Democratic Party!
With less than two weeks to go until the first caucuses and primaries begin, Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill is warning that if Bernie Sanders ends up winning the nomination, it could tank everything for Democrats. She said the GOP attack machine has chainsaws for hands that Bernie cant deal with, but Hillary can. John Iadarola (ThinkTank), Michael Shure, and Elliot Hill (The Lip TV), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"In a revealing report from the New York Times Tuesday, Clinton supporters including Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) piled on in warning that Bernie Sanders could be an electoral liability for the party in 2016 if he managed to secure the nomination.
The Republicans wont touch him because they cant wait to run an ad with a hammer and sickle, McCaskill told the New York Times...
Recent polls have shown Sanders gaining momentum in early states. A CNN poll Tuesdayshowed him leading Clinton by 27 points in New Hampshire and Des Moines Register poll found him closing the gap in Iowa.*

(6,409 posts)McKaskill is a strong Clinton supporter. It is interesting that Clinton's supporters, including members of Congress, aren't out there gushing about how wonderful, wonderful, wonderful she is. Instead, they're issuing dire warnings about what the Republicans will do.

(30,736 posts)and engage in hero worship. That is childish.
And McCaskill is correct. The real enemies are the republicans.
Where are all the congressional supporters of Bernie? How many are there again?

(8,976 posts)So of course the proper action is to smear a democrat. Fine logic there, Sparky...

(30,736 posts)He did not become a Democrat until it was convenient.
I have never smeared Sanders. Criticized him, yes.
Frankly, the more I see of him the less I like. And to start out, I did like him, I just didn't support his Presidential candidacy. Now I consider him an angry little man who attracts angry people. His supporters turned me off long before I took a closer look at his lack of experience and lack of ideas.

When people call for "term limits"; she's the reason they are screaming for simple solutions to ridding Congress of corrupt, out of touch political thugs.

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., ranks No. 17 on a new list of the richest federal lawmakers.
The Hill newspaper in Washington, D.C., compiled the list and noted that the 50 richest congressional members actually got richer last year even as their constituents suffered through the bad econom

(127 posts)I have the pleasure of living in Southwest Missouri, the reddist part of Missouri. I purchased 150 Bernie Bumper Stickers (50 of each). "Billionaires Can't Buy Bernie," "Feel the Bern," and "Bernie 2016." I have all three on my truck. I carry the others with me. I have not experienced one single negative response. All I get is high fives. Mostly from young people. If they get my attention I hold up a bumper sticker, they jump out of their car to get it. Have handed out 36 so far. FEEL THE BERN.

(9,141 posts)I too live in SW MO (Springfield). A huge Bernie supporter who urged him to run for president when he was reluctant to do so. Could only afford one Bernie yard sign but they are appearing all over my neighborhood. Claire shouldn't be running down a fellow democrat. If she supports Hillary then she needs to do that but not act like a republican and condemn a fellow dem who may be our candidate. Clinton did something similar in '08 when she ran against Obama siding with McCain saying the two of them at least have the experience necessary to be president but Obama doesn't and I though never side with a republican opponent against a dem candidate who might very well turn out to be the nominee. Here is McCaskill doing the same shallow thinking. She also said unemployment benefits and food stamps do not stimulate the economy. Ha. Just the opposite is true. Same with her Bernie comment...just the opposite is true. Bernie energizes the base and the majority making up the democratic party. Feel the Bern

(127 posts)Claire has made her bed. She said earlier this year she would not be running for Governor in 2016, but would more than likely seek a third Senate term in 2018. Hmmmmm.

their savings accounts and seize their refrigerators and food. Socialism!!!
No telling what lies they will resort to.
If Bernie Sanders wins the nomination, the Democratic Party is going
to have to prepare for everything and the kitchen sink.

(9,141 posts)Republicans in Vermont all vote for him. No one will take seriously the socialism nonsense except those trying to smear him and they always leave out the word Democratic in
Democratic Socialism...the only form of government which both ensures our freedom AND our survival which has been practiced in America since our founding and put on steroids with FDR and LBJ
