Al Gore's Climate Optimism

not sugarcoating, but there is a path. solutions start at about 12:50

I constantly find myself remembering 2000, when Al Gore was
consistently cast as "that boring wonky guy that is cold and
nobody likes him, corporate shill, clintonite, in the pocket of
big corporations, not a dime's worth of difference from
George Bush".

turns out, actually, there was at least a dime's worth of difference,
and to the degree that people on the left did not support Gore,
we are still paying the price.

This emphasizes the magnitude of democratic voters passively sitting out elections. Had the SCOTUS been stacked liberally 5-4, we would have had the Florida recount properly addressed and we would have had Gore for president, since he rightfully won the 2000 election.

The U.S. would have been on a green energy path 15 years ago. We probably would have caught or prevented some of the 9/11 attackers. There wouldn't have been an Iraq war. The U.S. Treasury wouldn't have been raided of $12 trillion of surpluses built up by president Clinton's policies, there wouldn't have been a financial markets collapse in 2007 or a real estate bust, the U.S. would probably be a creditor nation, instead of digging itself out of a republican created $16 trillion hole, we'd have a tax structure where very few have to pay taxes or the tax rates would be almost nothing, our military wouldn't have to decide between this defense program or that one, we'd have some of the best public schools in the world, instead of school districts that suffer due to lack of funding from republican controlled houses, and on and on and on.

This is why it is so important to stay invigorated every election and why in 2016, if every Bernie Sanders & Hillary Clinton supporter voted for the eventual nominee, DEMOCRATS WOULD WIN IN A LANDSLIDE. Because when we don't vote for people that more closely represent us, corporations will convince other people to vote against there best interests and the last 15 years of lost history becomes reality. GET IT???
