Do You Agree?

Do you agree with the idea that people like Melissa Harris-Perry were hired by MSNBC in order to explain President Obama to white people and to attack the like of Tavis Smiley and Cornell West? Do you think they are now getting fired because the next President is guaranteed to be white?

Ms. Melissa Harris-Perry rants but she has no substance, no depth. She is unnecessarily abrasive to no positive value.

It was obvious that Al Sharpton was hired to do exactly just that. His show continually had the lowest ratings in his 6 o'clock slot and it wasn't until last year that he too was moved to the weekend slot. As a way to slowly weed him out. I wouldn't be surprise if he loses his show completely after Obama leaves office.

The demands to fall in line have been happening at msnbc since Phil Donahue refused to go along about the Iraq War. Then there was Keith O some years later, and many others after that. The purging has been happening for a couple of years now, and to white hosts too. The rules are clear. if you don't fall in line, you are out. Period. Be a good little cog in the machine and all will be fine.

Obama's presidency gave msnbc a little more time to pass as liberal, but that's over. The Democratic Party isn't even progressive anymore, much less msnbc.

If you are not useful to a company or business, pretty much any company or business, you cost them money - once you cost them money, you're gone, and that's the way it goes. I agree msnbc valued her as a black woman only as long as Obama was in the office. It sure appears that way, which is unfortunate because she is brilliant. We need her ideas and the discourse she creates.

I agree race played a role, just not entirely the way these two in the videos say. Her being a black woman put her at a distinct disadvantage. The others got the boot because they dared think independently and refused to go along to get along on some things. Some things are just too far, like TPP, for example. They drew a line, fought for it, negotiated and lost. As far as I can tell, MHP didn't have that opportunity at all - it was abrupt and she may well have been falling in line, not that it would do her any good.
