As an artist myself I truly believe he went beyond the impressionist influence and well into Abstract Expressionism.

If you look at his painting up close you can see that he still painted within the line, but while being within the lines he went emotional all over the place. It wasn't until much later that artists took that cognitive leap into Abstract Expressionism.

Seeing the paintings in print simply does not do them justice. In person and up close, paintings really come alive as you see the brush strokes and nuances of the colors and how they are used. Given the chance it is well the the effort to go and see some of these special exhibits.

Of course then you go home and want to burn your palette, brushes and canvases.
