this was not the first time the us anthem has been performed in cuba since the restrictions have been lifted.

almost a year ago, the MN orchestra was the first symphony to fly (first direct fight!) to havana, and performed a magnificent selection each night.

the second night included performances by the orchestra of both cuban and US national anthems.

i listened to the live broadcasts; magnificent, and brought that lump-in-your-throat feeling both nights.
