Run as a Republican? That would be much more honest.

Then both Hillary and Bernie could run.

The GOP would like her corporatism and war hawk characteristics, while the Dems would be resigned to another disappointment regarding universal healthcare and other progressive policies because "it's just not practical."

that I think that is what she's going to do.

I think she may pick Bloomberg or another right-leaning Independent.

I base my opinion on how this primary season has worked out. I get the sense that she has completely written off the left. I don't see how any candidate could go from state to state, cheating and wrecking such havoc--and then turning around and thinking that those people will just magically vote for you.

I think she knows that it's a lost cause.

An Indie or Rep VP could give her some Independents possibly. She's polling terribly with them now. I really could see it.

Tweety sat there gobsmacked and couldn't come up with a name.

Rudy and Fred were out by then.

You could see it in his face that he hadn't even thought of it until that moment. He had been looking at those polls with the "generic republican".

This idea pops up with boring frequency. A while back people were gasping over the possibility that John McCain would be our VP. I'm spacing out on the various others, because it's just dumb.

People who suggest that sort of thing simply display their total ignorance about how party politics actually works. Once you even run for office on a somewhat low level (which I have. I ran for the State House of Representatives in the state I lived in in 2004) you find out just how your party operates, at least at the state level.

Party affiliation and party loyalty becomes more and more important as you move up the food chain.

Among the reasons Hillary is seen as The Anointed One is precisely because of this hierarchy of affiliation and loyalty. Which is also why her followers are so incredibly pissed at Bernie Sanders: Not only is he seeking to deny her Inevitability, but he hasn't been a registered Democrat until very recently. Never mind that he ALWAYS caucused with the Dems, this is Loyalty we're talking about.

So despite the almost predictable bullshit about a cross-party ticket, it's NEVER going to happen.

While I'm a Bernie Sanders fan, so I obviously hope he will be the nominee, I feel quite certain in saying that at this point we haven't a clue who the VP will be. Yes, there have been various speculations, and perhaps in the end one of them will be accurate, but let's all get farther along in the nominating process before we start worrying about the VP choice.

Hillary camp has to be worried about losing many Sander's supporters, so maybe they can replace them with disaffected Republicans. In this election you have Establishment vs Anti-Establishment and they are thinking that they should run along those lines instead of Party vs Party lines. The Establishment circling the wagons. Elitist Beltway insiders are so out of touch and scared of the Populism that has swept the country. They have no idea just how sick of this crap we really are because they are so out of touch!

I wonder what would happen if all Bernie supporters voted Green Party. I wonder if enough disaffected republicans would join in. Is that even possible ?

I suppose I shouldn't get too worked up... Does show what a sham Chris Matthews is as a democrat though. Such a fucked up thought process for modern day politics. John Kasich would be a truly dreadful choice for VP.

Edit: There's so few truly good republicans out there, but props were it is due. At a superficial glance Jon Huntsman seems like a guy with a good head on his shoulders. He and Joseph Lieberman run some political group called 'no labels' focusing on fixing problems instead of partisan bickering and have called the Republican SCOTUS blockade 'not acceptable'. Sure it's a low bar, but it shows he's at least a guy who uses his head for good, unselfish reasons.

Probably the start of Tweety turrning back to democrat bashing. He'll set himself as a high priest of Brodarism then go back to saying democrats would "Lick the bathroom floor to get elected".
