The multimillionaire Manhattan landlord whose ex-cop employee is accused of terrorizing tenants is now himself the subject of an investigation, the Daily News has learned.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has launched a probe into the potentially illegal tactics used by landlord Steven Croman, 47, to force rent-stabilized tenants out of their valuable apartments, a source said.

The AG is investigating potential violations of city and state laws, including numerous infractions related to tenant harassment by Croman, the source said.

Numerous tenants say Croman regularly files frivolous lawsuits, blows off repairs and uses every trick in the book to get them out so he can rent units at much higher rates.

On March 23, local Uber driver Artur Zawada uploaded a video of what appears to be an abusive student haranguing him with insults. The student is part of a larger group that jeers at the driver as the student yells at him and records the event on his iPhone.

The Michigan Review has spoken with an LSA Freshman who has confirmed anonymously that the student in question is Jake Croman.

A cover-photo from a locked Instagram account purporting to be Croman appears to be the same face of the student seen in the video. He has also been identified on Yik Yak.

Jake Croman, the student shown in the video, has responded to our request for comment. He alleges the video “shows one side of an argument I had with an Uber driver” and says the driver made an offensive remark and “refused to pick me up on the basis of my religion.” We have asked him to substantiate that claim and we are waiting to hear back from him.

He goes on: “I am not proud of my reaction to his discrimination and I regret my choice of words. Shortly after the verbal altercation, I filed a complaint with the Ann Arbor police department and they are now dealing with the issue.”

A national spokesperson for TKE has echoed the university’s disappointment with Jake Croman, and added he could face expulsion from the fraternity.
