This time of year the shoulders of the highways and byways are not only covered with wild flowers, they are covered with cars stopping for pictures of family and pets among the flowers. Stay safe and enjoy!

This is our first spring in Texas and we're really enjoying the bluebonnets along with all the other wildflowers. Well, except for the sneezing

Obviously you're ashamed of the state you live in.
I figure I paid for the money I get from Uncle Sam. My Social Security check was paid for with 40+ years of working and my VA benefits cost me 3 years, 6 months, 22 days, 5 hours and 17 minutes of my life.
So take your attitude, fold it until it is all sharp corners and put it where the sun don't shine on yourself.

Sure there are a lot of RW nut jobs here, but also a lot of great Democrats too. Tom Delay's horrible gerrymandering and the lack of support from the DRC. We see only Tea Party ads, none from National Democrats except a few Bernie ads. Kind of hard to turn blue that way.

that had bluebells. I had no idea what they meant but thought it would be beautiful.

Are these blue flowers what they were talking about when they said bluebells?

Thank you for a new way of looking at Texas for those of us who do not usually see it that way.

when Lady Bird encouraged people to plant wild flowers my Mom went nuts. She had a plastic container full of seeds and when we went on vacation, by car like everyone else back then, she would see a bare place on the highway and would pull the car over for us to throw out some seeds. I'd like to think there are still some flowers coming up from that time at some rest stop in Missouri or Colorado . There are some lovely places in Texas, many thanks to Lady Bird Johnson.

over many years of driving across the state in all directions... so much nicer to see all those flowers along the many miles of a very large state.

One thing about Texas that I will always remember is stopping out along the border, probably a couple hours from Van Horn, shut the whole rig down and got out to admire the full moon. What I heard amazed me, the sound of millions of mocking birds seemed to fill the sage desert which seemed endless itself, glowing in the moonlight. That was awesome.
