The Payday Lending Video Debbie Wasserman Schultz Actually Wants People To See

A spokesman for Debbie Wasserman Schultz attacked our new ad for supposedly lacking the proper context of her statement that payday lending is “unfortunately… necessary.” To that we offer the following response from Allied Progress executive director Karl Frisch: “Our ad makes the Congresswoman look better than her 6 minute back-and-forth on the issue. But if she wants to bring more attention to that interview, by all means. It’s been on our website for weeks. We can’t remember the last time a member of Congress asked people to watch a video of them struggling to defend their poor record on an unpopular issue.”
