Thanks for posting this!

Just finished reading a book about Florida prisons... and NOT the privatized ones! Is written by a man named George Mallinckrodt and the title is "Getting Away With Murder!" He worked as psychotherapist down at the Miami-Dade Prison in psychiatric unit. Most people DON'T HAVE A CLUE!

rely on "twitter" snippets then fight back and forth when REAL INFORMATION tells a truth that's UNBELIEVABLE and takes you way back to a place that's ALMOST something from the 19th Century!

I was infuriated, sickened AND more than heartbroken when I read about these "forgotten people" and the abuse they had to endure daily. So many in my family tell me that I MUST STOP reading this kind of stuff and perhaps ignorance IS bliss, but I simply can't extricate myself from having knowledge at my fingertips! I read this book and Thomas Frank's "Listen Liberal" within 3 days, both were easy reads because for some reason the type was larger than many books I read. Which brings me to the point that easy reads don't take much time. AND I still spent time outside over Memorial Day.

I do have an addiction, but the attention span of so many people is about 30 minutes TOPS! So sad!

for a long time. I live in a community that I DEROGATORILY call "white bread" because there are very few people of color. I myself am a white woman and my interaction with people outside of my race hurts me too because while I want to be a part of their world, I've learned from some that I call friends that they DON'T TRUST white people! I clearly understand this, but in 2016 I always wonder about the lack of progress we've made!

They police here seem to go out of their way to "find" something to arrest people for, young white people too! I could write a book on THIS too! My son actually did spend 6 months in county jail for pot & paraphernalia, but this was after they KNEW his name but never MADE him actually do time UNTIL they bled us dry with violation & court costs. The stint in County jail at 17 would have done MORE to straighten him out, but it's THEIR way of making money for the county!

Yes, even here in this "white bread" county there is police mentality that is handed down, which I'm sure so many are aware of. It's a very RICH per capita income county (I'm not one of them) and they've looked down their noses to me many times. Being an activist here is scarce, but I kept trying! Yeah, I live in Florida!!!

OKAY, enough... I have stores to tell!!! LOL
